The second show in the newly inaugurated series “Songwriters In Sonoma” is set for Thursday, February 17 at 7 p.m. in the Meadowcroft Wines (www.meadowcroftwines.com) tasting room at 23574 Arnold Drive/Hwy 121 at Cornerstone Sonoma. The show will feature singer-songwriters Glenn Carter, Jeff Falconer and Adam Traum who will be performing in-the-round. Tickets are $10 per person and include a glass of wine. Reservations for the show may be made by calling the tasting room at 707/934-4090. The Songwriters In Sonoma series is booked and hosted by Gerard Serafini, owner of Sonoma Valley Music Store. This is a 21 and over show.
“Our first show was a huge success and we are looking forward to this series becoming the anchor of all of our future music endeavors,” said Tom Meadowcroft, owner and winemaker of Meadowcroft Wines. “As the saying goes, ‘it all begins with a song,’ which is why we wanted to begin our musical journey with a songwriter series.”
The inspiration behind many of the songs on British singer-songwriter Glenn Carter’s recent album “Redwood Road” came after meeting and eventually marrying his new Californian wife, Pamela. Songs about life, love, failure, joy and humor are what makes this eclectic troubadour a must see performer. Johnny Cash, the Beatles, Sting, John Mellencamp and James Taylor are a few of the influences that have helped Glen hone his songwriting craft.
Singer-songwriter Jeff Falconer ‘s hope is to give each audience a full spectrum experience, acknowledging our human predicament, but at the same time highlighting our remarkable ability to self-correct by embracing our imperfections and cutting ourselves and each other some slack! Falconer, who played his first gig at age 8 at the Mendocino County Fair, has released three solo CD’s as well as a fourth release with his acoustic duo, Jaydub and Dino.
Adam Traum grew up in a musical family. His father, Happy Traum, a mainstay of the Greenwich Village folk scene, turned Adam on to blues, bluegrass and folk styles. His present day influences include Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, John Hiatt, Steve Earle and Mississippi John Hurt. He has three instructional DVD guitar lessons on Homespun Tapes, and his CD, “Meant To Be,” celebrates his diversity highlighting songwriting, which incorporates story-driven songs, humor and catchy guitar riffs.
Meadowcroft Wines includes the Meadowcroft, Magito and Thomas Henry labels. Winemaker Tom Meadowcroft also makes the wines for the Foyt Family Wines (www.foytfamilywines.com). There are presently 16 wines being poured at the tasting room including the just released 2008 Meadowcroft Sangiovese, the 2008 Meadowcroft Zinfandel and the 2008 Thomas Henry Zinfandel. The tasting room is part of the Cornerstone Sonoma (www.cornerstonesonoma.com) complex that features 22 world class gardens, a gourmet café, art galleries and cutting edge design shops all set among acres of vineyards.
